Def Shading Shading is the modulation of surface reflectance caused by the geometry of a scene, including surface orientation, light source characteristics, and the interaction of light with surfaces.
Remark
The following facts affect the shading of a surface:
- The amount of light that falls on the surface;
- The fraction of light that is reflected (albedo);
- Geometry of light reflection: shape of the surface, orientation of the surface, and the direction of the light source, viewpoint.
